Meet our dedicated coaching staff
At Alamance Acers, our coaches are the heart of our program. Discover the passionate individuals who guide our athletes, instill confidence, and foster a love for volleyball within a supportive Christian environment.
Kevin Royer: Varsity coach
Kevin has dedicated over eight years to the Alamance Acers, serving as both an assistant coach and Head Coach. With a lifelong background in sports, he brings a wealth of experience, passion, and leadership to the program. Kevin believes athletics are about more than just winning, they're an opportunity to build confidence, character, discipline, and teamwork that extend far beyond the court. His coaching philosophy centers on helping each athlete reach their full potential in a positive, supportive, and competitive environment. He is committed to developing not only skilled volleyball players but also confident young leaders, and he takes great pride in mentoring the next generation of Acers both on and off the court.
Russell Doss: JV coach
For the past 26 years, Russell has passionately served as a multi-sport youth coach. Since 2012, he has focused his expertise on volleyball, taking on roles as head coach for travel, sand, and homeschool teams. His most notable achievement came during a remarkable season when he led the Acers Middle School team to an East Coast National Championship and secured a runner-up position with the JV team in the same year.
Outside of coaching, Russell cherishes his time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also finds fulfillment in giving back through adult and youth mission trips.
Michelle Bainbridge: Middle school coach
Coach Michelle Bainbridge inspires our middle school athletes with her unwavering patience and deep passion for the game. She fosters an environment that encourages players to develop their skills and build confidence, consistently reminding them to play with integrity and respect for themselves and their teammates.
Outside of coaching, Michelle enjoys quality time with her family and is dedicated to serving the community.
"Our coaches create a positive environment where every player feels valued and motivated to achieve their best."

Meet the rest of our dedicated coaching team
Our success is built on the strength of our entire coaching staff. We are proud to have a team that not only trains our players in volleyball fundamentals but also nurtures their growth as young women, embodying our Christian spirit and commitment to excellence.
Lane Watkins: Assistant coach
Coach Lane Watkins offers exceptional support to our teams, combining a sharp eye for technique with a motivating presence at every practice. His dedication to individual growth empowers each player to achieve their personal best. Outside of coaching, he cherishes time with his family and loves watching his daughters play volleyball throughout the year.
Grace Royer: Assistant varsity coach
I am a proud alumna of the Alamance Acers, where I developed not only my skills but also the work ethic, leadership, and resilience that continue to shape who I am today. My time with the Acers prepared me to compete at the collegiate level, where I earned the opportunity to continue my volleyball career as a recruited setter. Those experiences have come full circle, allowing me to give back to the game as a coach and mentor to the next generation of athletes. I am grateful for the coaches and teammates who believed in me and helped me grow both on and off the court. Now, I strive to create that same positive impact for young players by encouraging them to work hard, believe in themselves, and embrace every challenge as an opportunity to grow.
Mallory Moser: Assistant JV coach
Raised in Alamance County, Mallory Moser was a dedicated player for the Alamance Acers throughout her middle and high school years. Now a senior at Liberty University, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in English and Writing. In her free time, Mallory enjoys leading worship at her church, as well as indulging in her passion for reading and writing.
Skylar Kuczkowski: Assistant JV coach
Hello! I’m Skylar Kuczkowski, and I’ve been passionate about volleyball since I was 10 years old. Over the years, I’ve played in various environments, including school teams, travel leagues, and sand volleyball. For the past three seasons, I’ve had the privilege of assisting my dad, Coach Russell, with the Acers. When I’m not on the court, I enjoy gardening, crafting, and spending quality time with my family.

Carlie Wells: Athletic director
My name is Carlie Wells, and I am honored to serve as the Athletic Director for Alamance Acers. I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 25 years, and together we have three wonderful children: Dean, Tyler, and Faythlynn. We are also blessed to have our oldest son's beautiful wife, Hayden, as part of our family.
Our family's volleyball journey began in 2021, and we have proudly been part of the Alamance Acers family since 2022. What started as a love for the game has grown into a passion for serving our athletes, families, and community.
As Athletic Director, my goal is to help create an environment where every athlete has the opportunity to grow—not only in their volleyball skills, but also in character, confidence, leadership, and faith. I believe athletics provide a unique opportunity to teach life lessons that extend far beyond the court.
One of the greatest blessings of being part of Alamance Acers has been the relationships God has placed in our lives. The friendships, encouragement, and sense of family we've found here have made this journey incredibly meaningful. It is a privilege to serve alongside dedicated coaches, supportive families, and amazing student-athletes as we continue building a program that honors God and inspires excellence.
I am grateful to be part of the Alamance Acers family and look forward to continuing to support our athletes as they grow both on and off the court.
